Recent years have witnessed the remarkable growing dominance of video appli- cations in worldwide mobile network traffic. The latest advances in video coding, processing, and transmission over mobile networks, smart mobile devices, and on-demand video services have all contributed to this global phenomenon. Both challenges and opportunities have emerged in multiple research disciplines involving video signal processing, 4G/5G mobile networks, mobile cloud computing, Big Visual Data, mobile user experience, adaptive, secure, and reliable video delivery, and so on. Research in these leading-edge areas has been gaining accelerated universal momentum in both developing and developed economies.

We invite investigators to contribute original research papers and review/survey arti- cles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to resolve the intrinsic conflicts between resource-demanding video applications and resource-constrained mobile networks, optimise video networking performance in mobile networks and achieve improved user experience, extract useful information from Big Visual Data generated from mobile applications, and leverage cloud computing and other emerging technologies and standards in supporting real-time, secure, reliable, scalable/adaptive, and energy-efficient video delivery in various mobile systems.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

Optimised video delivery in wireless/mobile networks, especially in resource-constrained networking environments
Cloud-assisted video processing and networking for mobile users Big Visual Data in wireless/mobile networks

Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) in wireless/mobile Internet
Quality of Experience (QoE) of mobile video applications
Security, reliability, fault tolerance, scalability, and energy efficiency for mobile video applications and networks

Standardisation, case studies, test beds, and emulation/simulation in mobile video networking

We also invite authors of selected papers accepted by the following conferences to substantially extend and improve their conference papers to be considered for this journal special issue:

21st IEEE Pacific Rim International Symposium on Dependable Computing (PRDC 2015, http://prdc.dependability.org/PRDC2015/)
15th International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing (ICA3PP 2015, http://trust.csu.edu.cn/conference/ICA3PP2015/)

Authors can submit their manuscripts via the Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/misy/amvn/.
